In The Garden

Well Good Saturday Morning!
I am getting ready to weed the garden YEE HAW! That is if it is dry enough we have had 41/2 inches of rain here this week. Well this is not my favorite part of gardening but it will pay off later when I can make that first FRESH JUICY TOMATO SANDWICH you know the one that taste like a real tomato unlike the ones we have from the stores in the winter (my opinion of those is they are only for color.) Well I better get to it because we have a wedding to attend tonight and I will have a lot of scrubbing to do before I put on that little dress.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

GERBER DAISY!

I have been busy in the yard and garden and I do love my fresh flowers. I am not the best in arranging flowers but I decided to do a Gerber Daisy and eucalyptus arrangement for my breakfast table one that wont need water.
I always look at the Gerber Daisy as a smiling flower!
Hope they bring a smile to you!

Were does the time go?

Wow I can’t believe it has been over a week since I blogged anything! I have been really busy with the garden and this and that and about that deck chair I am over it!!! (LOL!)
We took a trip to the wonderful Blue ridge Mountains of Virginia stayed a couple of days with my mom, it really was good to see her and for those of you that know her story she is doing really great she is even sneaking in a stitch or two on her quilt. She has to be careful because her leg swells when she is up to much.
Well I have to run for now and hopefully will have something new to share soon!

Have a GREAT rest of the week!

Hello!

I have been working on the deck chair and don’t even ask how it is going like I said in my last post I think I may have opened up a large can of worms! But I haven’t given up on it!

Anyway today the hubby and I tilled and weeded our garden and bought some plants to put in. I can’t wait for the first fresh tomato. YUM!

Well I hope everyone is having a great weekend it is a beautiful one here!

Deck Chairs

I am just stopping by to say hey and that I am thinking about redoing my deck chairs and might have opened up a large can of worms! (That’s a saying from the Blue Ridge Mountains where I grew up.) Anyway if I don’t post a picture here later you will know why. (LOL!) So so wish me luck!

More of my Roses I love sharing them!!!!

Hand painted glass button

Well it’s been awhile since I have posted a button. So today I decided to look through a jar of buttons that I picked up in the mountains while I was visiting my mom and oh my a little pretty. It is a pretty hand painted glass button.

HELLO!

It has been a really busy week for me so I am just stopping by to say hello!

Handmade table

So spring is here and I will be spending more time outside doing flowers and our garden so this crafting blog may just turn into a crafting, flower and garden blog. However I am going to do my best to keep the blog rolling.

So for today I am going to give you a new crafting idea it is a wooden table I made a few years back. It is not hard to make if you can find someone to cut the wood cut for you. (I do have access to my husband’s wonderful tools for that.)
Before you start you should have an idea of what size you want the table to be and the kind of wood you prefer (mine is oak) and the size is 46” W x 17” D and 30 ½ Tall.
Here is a list of the supplies you will need: You will need your wood for the top and side skirts, trim wood to trim the top and 4 legs (They sell the legs already cut.) and you will also need small nails, wood glue and hardware to attach the legs and then you will need to choose a stainable wood putty and stain of your choice.

Here is the picture of the table. And outside to the yard I go!

Here is a good idea for you crafters that will help keep you organized.

I just wanted to mention an apron I found at a site I follow she made it for holding sewing/crafting items. I really love it the choices of fabric and ribbon she put together are very tastefully done. CLICK HERE FOR THE LINK TO SEE IT!

If you have something you would like me to add here on the blog that is craft or collecting related just shoot me an email and I would be glad to add it.

Shell Buttons

Well I hope everyone had a great long weekend. We enjoyed it, although I did eat way too much!
Well I have been sitting here today trying to organize more of my buttons and wanted to share some of the shell buttons with you.
Also if any of you have ideas on organizing them I would love to hear from you. I keep changing the way I display them on my cards and it is not as easy as it sounds. But I really would like to have them all out of the old jars so I can see what I have.
Anyway I will quit babbling for now and upload the pictures.

This is a shell button with what looks like two moons on it.

This is a white carved design shell button.

One more Bear for the Mother Bear Project

Hi,
I have been gone again working in the yard and making another bear for the mother bear project. Here is a picture of him. I need a lot more practice anyway I am putting down my yarn for now as I have things I need to catch up on.
Hope to have something else to put here soon!
Have a great day and if you have time make a bear for a little one!

No Laughing!!!!!

Ok I already admitted that I don’t crochet and I know a lot of you that are seeing this are great at it. So please don’t laugh at my little bear he is for a good cause.

And if any of you are interested in doing one to donate or just make one for a child you know the information for The Mother Bear Project can be found by CLICKING HERE!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

HERE HE IS!

ALL OF THIS IN A OLD JAR OF BUTTONS!

Going through more of my buttons and it is always amazing to me what one can find in an old jar of buttons here is just one example.
I found some very pretty and small old buttons on a card a whistle button and a couple of butterscotch colored buttons and one I am not sure of and then there is some sort of monogrammed metal and also what I think they call the Miraculous Medal. All this and more in one little jar. I can’t wait to finish going through the rest of them and see what other treasures I find.
Pretty Cool don’t you think?

Crocheted Bear

Sorry I haven’t had time for blogging lately.
I thought tonight would be a good time for a crocheted craft.
This is a crocheted bear that my mother volunteered to do while she was healing from her fall. The bears are for something called Mother Bear Project if anyone is interested their website is CLICK HERE . I guess I should crochet one but it might turn out without an arm or leg. ;-) As I don’t know much about crocheting.
Well that is all I have to blog about tonight.
So I will say goodnight for now.

Gosh what a day!

Well I had hoped to blog some today and instead I have had to work on my computer all day except for a couple of hours that I was gone to take my mom to do some errands.
First thing this morning I had a system crash that ended in the BSOD (that is the blue screen of death) I think that is what the gurus call it, no icons nothing just a blue screen.
Anyway I am back up and running and suppose to head back home tomorrow after I take my mom to the doctor if the weather will allow (it is snowing here again), hopefully I can have something to put on the blog in a day or so.
Take care and thanks for reading the blog.

Hello my Crafting Friends!

Just wanted to give an update to those of you have been here for awhile and know about my moms fall.

Well after a total of two months in the hospital/rehab she is finely home safe and sound and doing remarkably well, she has really been a trooper through all of this and she can’t say enough good things the people at the Golden Living Center where she stayed for her rehab.
So I picked her up yesterday and she will be very busy catching up on her life and of course her blog that she had just started when all of this happened and I must add a plug for her here ;-) The Quilting Nut is her blog and hopefully after she gets caught up on everything else she can get back to her blogging. If you would like to visit her blog. Click Here to go there now and see some of her quilts. Or if you would like to go there later there is a link to the right of my blog.

I thought we would need something to do that don't require a lot of walking so I brought some of my buttons that need to be sorted for us to go through (If we find the time.) and will post some pictures for you if we find something interesting to share.
Thank you for reading the blog and have a wonderful weekend! It sure is a beautiful day here!

Spring Crafting Ideas how about Custom Beach Bags!

Is it time for some Spring Crafting ideas?
Customize a Beach Bag!
The pictures of these beach bags are not the best, but you can see enough to get the idea of how they are done.
I made them for some of my clients a couple of years ago and they really loved them.
I bought the waterproof bags already made and added a lining inside with however many pocket they wanted. Then I trimmed them with the color of ribbon they liked and then sewed and tied the corresponding bows to match. If you try this don’t forget to buy yourself some large needles for your machine because if you line them they are pretty thick to sew through.
I do love some company so tell me what you think! Suggestions and new ideas are always welcome. IN THE COMMENT BOX BELOW!

Just Surfing around tonight!

Just surfing around and stopped by to say hello!

SO HELLO!

Stargazer Lillies from our yard last year it's about that time again.
I Love it!
And don't forget to say HELLO!

Dog Purse

Someone ask if I had done a purse with dogs on it. So here is one that I found a picture of and of course it has a button on it!

As always COMMENTS ARE WELCOME!

Dog Bride and Groom

I thought while I was searching through my dog items I might as well put the bride and groom on here. This was not an easy job!

Dog Bandanna for the race fans.

Can't put one of our babies on here without the other. So if any of you are race fans, here is an idea for you.

Dog Jacket

I was going through some of my crafting pictures and I ran across this little dog jacket and thought I would post it here on the blog. Isn’t the model too cute!   ;-)

Rubber Buttons

Hello, Yes I am still here.
I have had a busy weekend, the hubby and I have been trying to decide on new floors for the upstairs of our house.
And today our neighbors told us they are having some major work done in their yard and if we wanted some of the azaleas to take them. So today we have been digging up and replanting azaleas all day. ( Hope they do well at their new home.)
In between all this I have been trying to get my camera to take a picture of a couple of buttons so you can read the backmarks on them. So when all else failed I decided to get out the book and read the directions and wa la all I needed to do was push one button two times. That little book sure would have saved me some time if I would have just looked at it in the beginning! ;-)
Anyway for those of you who may not know about the Goodyear Rubber Buttons I am uploading some pictures of them for you. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Store on CafePress

Hi Everyone,
I was surfing around today and found a site called CafePress, I had forgotten all about them.
Anyway I decided that since I really didn’t have anything to sell on my site that I would set up a store there.
And I am sharing the information with you in case you might be interested in setting up a store of your own. (By the way I am not being compensated for sharing this info with you.)  :-)
I am not recommening them, I am just telling you about an idea I am trying.
You know as a crafter I am loving to be able to create products to sell on there and the best part is no inventory!
And as always I love your feedback so leave me a comment!
CLICK HERE if you want to check out the store!

Vintage Buttons, Bakelite, Glass, Ceramic, Lucite, Celluloid or just a pretty plastic button!

Well it has been awhile since I have had time to sort through some of my sewing buttons so I felt like it was time to add another collection here. I do love an antique button! Whether they are Celluloid, Glass, Ceramic, Lucite, Bakelite buttons or just a pretty plastic button they are all special and unique.
Hope you do enjoy seeing them!
And don’t be afraid to leave me that comment and tell me what you are thinking. ;-)
Which one is your favorite?

Reply on the kids tool apron.

This is in reference to the comment on the post below. Someone ask if you can buy pink denim. Well I am not sure but I do know you can buy what I call duck cloth in pink and it is thick like denim so it would work good for the kids tool apron and but of course the little girl can add some sparkles.

Idea for another boy craft.

I forgot to add this picture it is another craft idea for the little boys! It is a tool apron with toy tools.
And although I had in mind for it to be for little boys the little girls loved it too.

Weekend update!

I am at my moms and we took her out (for the first time since her surgery) she did really well, and enjoyed getting back out in the world. We took her out to eat and then to pick up some yarn so she will have something to do, as it will be a few more days before she will get to go home. But she really is doing great!

I received an email from my friend about the event we were trying to get a few things ready for the last few days. It was a Chili Tasting/ Auction/ Craft event and she said they sold some of the items we made and she was happy and got some really good feed back.

Here are some pictures below of a few more of the items we made. (Now we can slow down a little bit. LOL! )

Visors for the little girls and you must notice the one on the right has a button!

More crafts for the Saturday event with a few crafts for the little boys

Well we finally got some crafts together for the little boys.
So here they are. Wish us LUCK that they sell on Saturday! ;-)
Hope you can get some crafting ideas from the pictures.
I am going to visit my mother for the weekend and I hope to add more pictures later.

A Craft for the Little Boys!

Ok we are trying to come up with something for the church sale that would work for little boys, so I did this apron trying to not make it girly and was just wondering if you can tell the appliqué is a chef hat?

All comments welcome!

Still Crafting Aprons!

Hi All,
I am trying really hard to have a craft a day or at least to let you know I am here at the blog and hope you are too. ;-)
Anyway the craft tonight is more decorated aprons. They are a little bit addictive because they are so cute. I hope you enjoy them!

Some crafts we did for the church

Here are some pictures of the craft things we have been making for the church fundraiser.
They are really easy to do.
And as always if you need information on how to do any of the crafts on this blog feel free to email me.
Keep your fingers crossed for us to turn out many more before Saturday!

Aprons for the little girls.

Reversible Purses

Hair bows, koozies and more aprons.

Next craft project coming soon!

Well no craft pictures tonight but should have some soon as I have been helping a dear friend of mine with some projects for her church fundraiser.

So tonight I went into my sewing room and started to work on some things, I realized what a mess my supplies were in and I decided it was a perfect time to do a clean up.

It really feels good when you can find things.

So stay tuned for whatever crafting projects we come up with as I will share them here.

And one more thing if anyone has any craft ideas that we could make for the little boys please share them with us here. It would be greatly appreciated!

Not much going on with crafting today, so I decided to share a laugh with you.

This was in an email today, it is an oldie but a goodie!

The Baptist White Lie Cake

To all my lady friends that BAKE, you will love this story!
Even if you have seen this before, it is a great story!

"You can preach a better sermon with your life than with your lips"
THE BAPTIST WHITE LIE CAKE
Have you ever told a white lie? You are going to love this, especially all of
the ladies who bake for church events:

Alice Grayson was to bake a cake for the Baptist Church Ladies' Group in

Tuscaloosa , but forgot to do it until the last minute. She remembered it the

morning of the bake sale and after rummaging through cabinets, found an angel

food cake mix & quickly made it while drying her hair, dressing, and helping her

son pack for scout camp.

When she took the cake from the oven, the center had dropped flat and the cake

was horribly disfigured and she exclaimed, "Oh dear, there is not time to bake
another cake!" This cake was important to Alice because she did so want to fit

in at her new church, and in her new community of friends.

So, being inventive, she looked around the house for something to build up the

center of The cake. She found it in the bathroom - a roll of toilet paper. She

plunked it in and then covered it with icing. Not only did the finished product

look beautiful, it looked perfect. And, before she left the house to drop the

cake by the church and head for work, Alice woke her daughter and gave her some

money and specific instructions to be at the bake sale the moment it opened at

9:30 and to buy the cake and bring it home.

When the daughter arrived at the sale, she found the attractive, perfect cake

had already been sold. Amanda grabbed her cell phone and called her mom.

Alice was horrified-she was beside herself! Everyone would know! What would they

think? She would be ostracized, talked about, ridiculed!

All night, Alice lay awake in bed thinking about people pointing fingers at her

and talking about her behind her back.

The next day, Alice promised herself she would try not to think about the cake

and would attend the fancy luncheon/bridal shower at the home of a fellow church

member and try to have a good time. She did not really want to attend because

the hostess was a snob who more than once had looked down her nose at the fact

that Alice was a single parent and not from the founding families of Tuscaloosa

, but having already RSVP'd , she couldn't think of a believable excuse to stay

home.

The meal was elegant, the company was definitely upper crust old south and to

Alice 's horror, the cake in question was presented for desert!

Alice felt the blood drain from her body when she saw the cake! She started out

of her chair to tell the hostess all about it, but before she could get to her

feet, the Mayor's wife said, "what a beautiful cake!" Alice , still stunned,

sat back in her chair when she heard the hostess (who was a prominent church

member) say, "Thank you, I baked it myself."

Alice smiled and thought to herself, "God is good."

So here is my long awaited Craft Project.

Hello to whoever is returning to look at my project. (The Cameo I was telling you about.)

I don’t know how she looks to you but to me she is special. I think the main reason it took me so long was because she is very small.

I have decided to put her on a sewing button, and I think maybe I will then attach her on a ring base. So now my finished craft project has turned out to be a Cameo ring.

Well here she is! And as always COMMENTS ARE GRAETLY APPRECIATED!

Cameo made with clay.

So while we wait for my crafting idea from the post below! (And oh my what a project it has been!)

I thought I would upload some more button pictures. Today I have more brown sewing buttons. As I sort through my buttons I can’t believe my eyes at some of the treasures I find (they are to me, like art to an artist.) Anyway I will quit babbling and upload the pictures for you.

So stay tuned to see my long awaited project. I hope to have it ready soon!

Are you here reading my blog? Don’t be shy and leave me a message. This is a lot of work so at least let me know someone is enjoying it.

My next crafting idea coming soon! (Hopefully)

It has been a beautiful day here today and so the hubby and I went out and about for awhile. We really enjoyed the beautiful sunshine today. :-)
When we got back home I started playing around with an old craft idea that I have been playing with for awhile. I am trying to make a clay cameo button or a ring; actually I am not sure it will be anything that resembles a cameo. LOL! But I shall not give up! It is now my next big crafting challenge. And hopefully if it turns out halfway right I will post it here for you to see, and if I don’t post it, I will leave it to your imagination of why ;-)

Have a great rest of what is left of this evening !

The Crafting Nut is back!

I’m back from my visit with my mom. It was a good day trip.

She didn’t know I was coming and she was pleasantly surprised, especially when she saw that I brought her a craft to work on. (Yes it is in the family :-) and as you know she is an avid quilter. So I surprised her with some more needlepoint squares to work on. Who knows maybe she will use them to make a quilt one day. I leave the quilting crafts to her.
Today I have to work on my taxes :-( anyway some things we just have to do and make the best of it so when they are finished I will be back to my crafting. :-)

No Crafting for me today!

If you have been here reading my blog for awhile you know about my mom’s injury.

So no crafting for me today.
I am going to visit her at the Living Center where she is staying until she is able to walk on her own.

But before I go I wanted to share two of my favorite crafting friends, Buddy and Girly they always follow me right up to my crafting room and just hang out with me!

Thank T.K. for telling me I should add my babies on my blog!

I hope they are as cute to you as they are to me.

TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK! TOOOO CUTE RIGHT! (I am there mom so I can say that ;-)

Here is another idea from a client; we must always listen to what they want!

If I remember correctly, she even brought her own fabric so here is her purse,
Suede and Leather with the two monkeys; see no evil, hear no evil.

Thank you Mimi.

More Sewing Buttons! Antique, Pictorial, Twinkles etc;

Not only am I a crafting nut, I am also a button collecting nut! ;-)
Today I have more sewing buttons for you, some are pictorial, some are antique, some are mirror backed twinkles and some I just thought were pretty or unique.

I hope you enjoy them.
And as always you may leave me a comment!
